About La Baracca

What’s in a name….

La Baracca: (la ba-ra-ka)

Italian translation meaning ‘THE SHACK’’ the moniker a favourite of friends & family that would visit us on site joking of the investment we had procured.

This then lead to a history lesson of a one FRANCESCO BARACCA(1888-1918) hero of the first world war, considered one of the pioneers of Italian aviation.

The Italian air ace having amassed 34 victories was brought down in the mountains of Northern Italy. In a twist of irony papers of his last flight plan were found by our great grandmother in the hills known as Montello as she gathered wild edible mushrooms, strawberries and ciclamini flowers which she later sold to the noble families in Venice.

Adding more answers to questions, on one side of the fuselage is the personal emblem of Major Francesco Baracca, the prancing horse, that was gifted by the mother of Francesco, Countess Paolina Biancoli to Enzo Ferrari and is now famous through out the world as the coat of arms adopted by the racing team of Maranello.
